Police and a local BJP functionary also arranged for train ticket and food for the woman, in her late 20s, being sent back today. Police have informed her family in Pune.

The woman, mother of two children, had arrived here yesterday by train and was noticed by police, wandering at the railway station.

Special Sub-Inspector Rajendran said the woman, who offered worship at the Lord Ramanathaswamy temple here on arrival, told police that she left her home as her in-laws and husband harassed her.

Through BJP local unit Secretary Murali, whose help was sought to communicate with the Hindi-speaking woman, police advised her to return home and lodge a complaint at the local police station in Pune about the harassment.
