Punjab announces free medical treatment for girls up to 5

The Punjab Government today announced to provide free treatment to girls up to 5 years of age at the government hospitals of the state.

A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today.

Besides this, free medicines will also be made available to the girls at the government hospitals, the Chief Minister said.

Badal informed that a number of initiatives are being taken by his government to further improve the sex-ratio in the state.

The government is already extending many free medical facilities to women, which include cashless delivery service at all government hospitals of the state and free treatment to children upto one year of age, he said.
 

Cash incentive of Rs 1,000 under the 'Mata Kaushalya Yojna' is also given to women after delivery at government health institutions, Badal said.
