Punjab Chief Electoral Officer today sought comments from State's Principal Secretary (Home) D S Bains on alleged violations of Model Code of Conduct by some senior police officers ahead of the Lok Sabha polls on April 30.
The comments from the Principal Secretary (Home) has been sought as the earlier reports sent by Additional Director General of Police (election cell) C S R Reddy were not found satisfactory by Election Commission, Punjab's Additional Chief Electoral Officer Raminder Singh said here.
The EC had received complaints against Ludhiana Police Commissioner P S Gill, Bathinda IG (Intelligence) Jitender Jain and Senior Superintendents of Police of Ferozepur (Manwinder Singh), Mansa (Bhupinder Singh) and Bathinda (G S Bhullar) regarding violations of Model code of conduct, he said adding that the CEO had asked the Principal Secretary Home to get these enquired.

Taking an exception, the CEO has asked Principal Secretary (Home) to send his remarks on replies submitted by ADGP (election cell).
Singh said that as many as 18 expenditure and 18 general besides 3 police observers were being sent to Punjab by ECI for Lok Sabha polls.
He said that five expenditure sensitive constituencies - Bathinda, Amritsar, Patiala, Ferozepur and Gurdaspur would have one each additional expenditure and general observer.
Singh said that the ECI has directed the no voter should have to walk more than two kms to cast his/her vote and if required, the District Election Officer should change the polling booth as per the need.
He said that each polling booth either be monitored by a micro observer, web casting, videography or still photography.
Till date 1,40,130 licensed weapons have been deposited in police stations concerned across the state, he said.
