The Punjab chief electoral office today sought a panel of officers from the state government to fill various posts lying vacant in Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency.

The Election Commission had yesterday announced bypoll to the constituency which will be held on October 11. The seat had fallen vacant following the demise of actor-turned politician MP Vinod Khanna in April.

A spokesman of the office of chief electoral officer (CEO), Punjab said that for the smooth conduct of the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha by-election, a panel of three officers for the post of SDM Dharkalan and SDM Dera Baba Nanak should be filled immediately.

He said the electoral office had also sought the panel for the post of AETC Gurdaspur as incumbent officer Rajwinder Kaur Bajwa belonged to the same constituency.

"The office has also sought the panel of three officers for the post of Tehsildar in Dharkalan," the spokesman said.

The bypoll result will be declared on October 15.
