Punjab CM to hold meeting with farmers: BKU

Farmers outfit, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan) today said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has invited eight farmer unions and four farm labourer unions to discuss their demands in Chandigarh on December 17.

The announcement was made here by Joginder Singh Ugrahan, President of BKU (Ugrahan) and Sukhdev Singh Kokari, General Secretary of BKU (Ugrahan).

However, both the leaders stated they will hold permanent dharna at Badal village, in case the state government fails to concede to their demands.

Their demands include compensation of Rs 40,000 per acre for cotton growers, Rs 20,000 per acre to farm labourers and clearance of outstanding payment of cane growers.
