Activists of Punjab Congress today staged demonstrations across the state demanding CBI probe into the drug menace.

PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa, while addressing a dharna at Jalandhar, demanded CBI probe into the drug racket, saying the issue concerned the destiny of the people in general and the youth in particular in the state.

Giving a call to the party activists to gear up for the 2017 Assembly elections, Bajwa said 2017 would see Congress in saddle in Punjab by replacing the "corrupt, non- performing and degenerated" SAD-BJP government, a party release quoting him said here.

He criticised the Parkash Singh Badal government for "poor" power situation in the state and alleged lawlessness during his government's regime.

Referring to the "worsening power situation", he said the state was suffering long power cuts.

In Ludhiana, AICC secretary Harish Chaudhary and Ravneet Bittu, MP, led the party protest against the state government, the party release said.
