Punjab govt appeals to transport employees to call off strike

Punjab government today assured employees of Punjab Roadways who are on strike that it will look into their demands sympathetically and appealed them to withdraw their agitation.

The assurance was given by state transport minister Ajit Singh Kohar to a deputation of striking contractual employees here today.

During deliberations, the minister said the state government has always safeguarded interests of its employees and government was equally concerned about their demands and was seriously making efforts to resolve them.

Kohar said, he would soon take up the matter with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for a positive outcome.

Contractual employees of Punjab Roadways and Punbus are on strike for the past more than one month demanding salary hike.
