With main opposition Congress raking up the issue of drugs, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said his government was committed to zero tolerance to the menace of drugs.

Badal, who came to the rescue of his two senior cabinet colleagues - Bikram Singh Majithia and Anil Joshi - countered the opposition on the issue of drugs during Zero Hour in the state Assembly.

Majithia is facing Congress onslaught after he was named as being involved in the multi-crore drug case unearthed by Punjab police by a drug smuggler Jagdish Singh Bhola, while Joshi is in the firing line of the opposition for facing a csae of allegedly getting himself and his family members registered as voters at two different places from Amritsar.

As Leader of the Opposition Sunil Jakhar raked up the issue of drugs, Badal said, "Let's fix time for discussion...I will prove my government's zero tolerance on drugs...You also call any of your specialists on drugs to prove us wrong."

Earlier, Jakhar raised the issue of bogus votes and stressed for equality before law while citing a similar case, in which a police case of cheating was registered against the accused.

Joining the tirade against Opposition, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal took a jibe at Congress saying, "I had thought that you must have come well prepared but you all fizzled out."

Referring to the Supreme Court comment that "CBI is a caged parrot", Sukhbir said the Congress had misused central agencies like CBI and DRI to target its political rivals.

"We waged the biggest war against drugs," he claimed, while pointing out that all the pleas filed by various Congress leaders failed to stand before the High Court.

Making certain personal allegations against Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the SAD president asked Jakhar "If you go by the allegations, do you demand resignation of Haryana CM as well...Will he resign?"

"When Lok Sabha polls have been declared, you have no issues and are looking at non-issues," he told the Opposition.

As he complimented Congress for not walking out of the House unlike in the past, Jakhar said, "We will not walk out rather will confront the government on the floor of the House.
