Punjab Government today announced to form a nine-member Group of Experts (GoE) to suggest measures to improve economic conditions of agriculturists.
Headed by Punjab State Farmers' Commission chairman G S Kalkat, the GoE will suggest measures required to be taken to ameliorate economic distress of farmers and formulate action plan in this regard, an official spokesman said.
The other members of the GoE include former agriculture minister Sompal Shastri, international plant breeder G S Khush, former Deputy Director General of ICAR K L Chadha, Director, ex-Chairman of Commission for Agriculture Costs and Prices T Haque, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana vice chancellor B S Dhillon, among others.
Commissioner Agriculture, Punjab Balwinder Singh Sidhu would be its Convener.
