Punjab govt directs SMOs, civil surgeons to be available 24X7

Punjab government directed all the senior medical officers and civil surgeons today to stay put at the place of their postings round the clock.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, Madan Mohan Mittal also said that no SMO and civil surgeons will leave the station without prior permission from the concerned officer.

The minister instructed that the officers should also ensure proper attendance of supporting staff in the hospitals.

Mittal held a high-level meeting with senior officials of the department after touring 13 districts of the state to review the health services in the state.

"Punjab government is committed to provide 24X7 quality health services to the people of the state and no laxity would be tolerated at any level," he said.
