All the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been told to randomly inspect property registration records and submit their report to Financial Commissioner (Revenue) each fortnight, Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said.

This exercise is a the part of revenue reforms initiated by the SAD-BJP government with the sole aim to provide hassle free revenue services at ground level, he said.

The minister said after going through the records of registries in tehsils and sub-tehsils, the designated authorities would mention its total number, irregularities, if any, along with the action to be taken.

In order to make this system more effective, divisional commissioners would not only check the fresh cases but would also verify those which have already been checked by the Deputy Commissioners, he said.

Majithia further said the contact details of buyers and sellers would also be kept in record to maintain a complete transparency in the functioning.

It is mandatory to register the phone numbers of both parties at the time of land registration, he said.
