The Punjab government today notified the 'Allocation of Business Rules' for the 48 government departments.

The rules were last updated in 2007.

Since then, there have been as many as 13 amendments, including creation of six departments, which necessitated the move, an official spokesperson said.

The business of the Punjab government will be transacted in the departments specified in the rules and classified and distributed as laid down, the spokesperson added.

He said the governor, on the advice of the chief minister, will allot the business of the government by assigning one or more departments to a minister.
