Punjab govt sets up 18 state advisory committees

To streamline its daily activities, formulate and implement people-oriented policies, Punjab Government has constituted 18 State Advisory Committees comprising MLAs from all political parties in the state.

The committees have been set up to streamline the day to day functioning of the state government by formulating the people-oriented policies and implementing them in an effective manner besides advising the government on important issues of public interest, an official spokesman said here today.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal cleared the formation of the committees, he said, adding, that the tenure of these committees would be till March 31, 2015.

Punjab Government could at any point of time change the membership, name and constitution of committee besides even reconstituting it, the spokesman said.
 

It would be mandatory for the committee to meet once within three months and one meeting of the committee would be held during the session of state Assembly and one meeting must be convened between the two sessions of the assembly, he said.

The headquarter of these committees would be Chandigarh and the prescribed quorum for these meetings would be four members, he said.

The committees include State Advisory Committee on Personnel, General Administration, Cooperation, Science, Technology and Environment, Vigilance, Civil Aviation and Justice departments, the spokesman said.
