The Punjab government has approved the construction of labour sheds at district and sub division level to provide basic facilities to labourers.
Labour sheds would be constructed at district and sub division level across the state with the cost of Rs 10 crore, Labour Welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani said today.
The construction maps of labour sheds have already been passed and Municipal Committees would provide land for the project, he said.
Department of labour welfare would provide funds to municipal committees to construct the sheds, which will provide sitting arrangements, drinking water and washroom facilities, the minister said.
