Punjab government would provide subsidised seeds of paddy, moong and legume plants to rain-hit farmers for the next crops, Agriculture Minister Tota Singh said today.
The state government has a stock of 3330 quintals of seed of PR-123 variety of paddy which would be sold to farmers at the rate of Rs 3500 per quintal, he said in a statement here.
The Minister said that seed stock of about 4050 quintal of Basmati Pusa 1509 is available and that sale price of which had been fixed at Rs 7000 per quintal.

Besides paddy, to improve the texture, fertility and organic mettle in the soil, the government would supply about 40950 of legume plant (jantter) to farmers at the subsidised rate of Rs 2000 per quintal through the district Agriculture officers of their respective areas, he said.
To encourage the cultivation of Moong, about 2444.70 quintals seed of Moong will be distributed to farmers under various schemes at subsidy, he said.
Out of this, 1040 quintal seed will be distributed at 50 per cent subsidy and 1404 quintal at 25 per cent subsidy, he said.
