Punjab, Haryana reel under heat, Amritsar hottest

Amritsar turned out to be the hottest place in the region with maximum temperature touching 43.6 deg C mark, according to Met office here.

Among other places in Punjab, the maximum temperature in Ludhiana and Patiala were recorded at 42.4 deg C and 41.4 deg C, up by up to two degrees above normal.

In Haryana, Ambala, Bhwani and Hisar registered the day temperature at 41.4 deg C, 42.4 deg C and 43 deg C respectively.

Narnaul was hot at 43.5 deg C, up by two notches above normal while Rohtak and Karnal saw mercury settling at 43 deg C and 41.6 deg C, respectively.

 

However, temperature remained below 40 degree mark in Chandigarh as maximum was recored at 39.8 deg C.
