Akal Takht head priest Gurbachan Singh today said Punjab cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa will be summoned before the top temporal seat of the Sikhs and punished for allegedly distorting the verses of 'Gurbani'.

Talking to PTI here, Jathedar Gurbachan Singh said that Randhawa would be summoned at Akal Takht to submit his clarification with regard to the act.

He claimed it was not first time Randhawa had committed such mistake.

"This time Akal Takht is going to take a serious note of his act," he said.

The Akal Takht has received many complaints against Randhawa, he said.

The complaints will be discussed in a meeting of five Sikh high priests whereupon date is to be finalised to summon him for clarification, he said.

A group of SGPC members had recently submitted a memorandum to the Akal Takht Jathedar, alleging that Jails minister Randhawa "distorted" Gurbani during a press conference a few days back.

Randhawa had been on the target of Akali Dal which had accused him of allegedly fabricating evidence and leaking along with Justice (retd) Ranjit Singh commission report before its submission to the Vidhan Sabha.
