Punjab Congress chief Pratap Singh Bajwa today said the state will not benefit from special status as "poor law and order and corruption by SAD-BJP government" would drive away investors.

"Law and order situation in the state is poor. There is a lot of corruption. The situation in the state is not such that it can benefit from special status because industries cannot be established in present conditions," Bajwa, on way to Nawashaher, told reporters here today.

Special category status attracts investment in a state as industries get tax benefits.

Bajwa claimed that industrialists were migrating to other states from Punjab as the present government had no proper policies for agriculture and industry sector.

The PCC chief yesterday sought special status for border areas of the state sharing boundary with Pakistan and had said he would meet the Prime Minister and other party leaders in this regard.
