Punjab NRI's house burgled

The house of an NRI was burgled of valuables, including foreign and Indian currency, at nearby village of Narur, police said today.

Kamaljit Singh, settled in Australia, had come to his native village to perform last rites of his father who had died a few days ago, police said.

They said that Kamaljit and other family members were in the village Gurdwara in connection with the 'bhog' ceremony of his father.

When they returned yesterday, they found the locks of their house broken, the house ransacked and burgled of valuables, including Australian dollars and Indian currency, police said.

However, the exact amount of the burgled money and Indian currency could not be known.
 

Police have registered a case and were investigating the matter.
