Punjab Police DSP arrested for corruption, dismissed

A Punjab Police DSP-rank officer was today arrested on corruption charges and dismissed from service.

Huge amounts of ill-gotten cash were also seized and the DSP's interrogation was going on.

DSP City-I, SAS Nagar (Mohali) Gurbans Bains had been regularly abusing his official position to allegedly obtain illegal gratification and amassed assets disproportionate to his sources of income, a Punjab Police press release said.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant Sections of the IPC was registered against Bains, who has been dismissed from service by the Inspector General of Police, Zone-I, Patiala.
