Punjab procures 107 lakh tonnes of wheat so far

As much as 107.20 lakh tonnes (LT) of wheat has been procured in Punjab in the ongoing Rabi Marketing season 2014-15.

Out of the 107.20 LT, government agencies bought 97.7 per cent of crop for central pool while rest was bought by private traders, official spokesman said here today.

Among government agencies, Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, PSWC and PAIC bought 19.40 LT, 23.73 LT, 22.28 LT, 12.10 LT and 10.52 LT, respectively.

Central procurement agency FCI bought 16.66 LT of wheat which was 15.5 per cent of total procurement of wheat in the state.

Punjab is eyeing to purchase 115 LT for the central pool this year.
