Punjab resident held in Kashmir with 4 quintal narcotics

A suspected drug peddler, hailing from Punjab, was arrested along with a large quantity of narcotic substance and cash in Kulgam district of south Kashmir today, police said.

Raba, a resident of Jalandhar, was smuggling four quintals of 'Fukki' out of Kulgam district when his car was intercepted by a police party and he was taken into custody, a police spokesman said.

Besides the narcotics, Rs 4.93 lakh was seized from the vehicle, he said.

However, his accomplice Surjeet Kumar managed to flee the scene and a hunt has been launched to nab him, the spokesman said.

Raba is the third Punjab native arrested by police for drug peddling in the Valley since yesterday.
 

Yesterday, police arrested two Punjab residents from Batmaloo area of central Srinagar and eight kg 'Fukki' was seized from them.
