Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said strict and swift actions are being taken to stop illegal mining in the state.

"Instructions have been issued to register cases against violators and I am personally keeping a tab on the issue," he told reporters here.

The deputy Chief Minister said Zonal IGs have been asked to look into such complaints and no one involved in illegal mining will be spared.

Answering a query regarding registration of criminal cases in such cases, Badal said illegal mining is prevalent across the country and Punjab has registered the maximum number of FIRs against illegal miners.

On the delay in notification of new industrial policy, Badal said due to lots of changes as per the recommendations of industrialists it is taking some time.

Slamming the Congress, he said people of the country are eagerly waiting to oust the party from power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Asked about the Congress' plan to field party 'bigwigs' from Punjab, Badal said that SAD was fully prepared for it.
