Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the state government will soon bring a proposal to create new burial grounds in villages with Muslim-majority population.
The proposal would soon be finalised to eliminate hurdles in performing last rites by members of the Muslim community, Badal said while participating in an Eid-Ul-Fitr party here in Idgah.
The survey to identify villages with Muslim-majority population and earmarking Panchayat land in those villages was at an advanced stage and the state government would approve the policy as soon as it was completed, he said.
