The Punjab government today said it would soon widen the ambit of Atta-Dal scheme by doubling the number of beneficiaries from 15 lakh to 30 lakh.
"This decision has been taken for facilitating more number of people get the subsidised food grains," Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said at a function organised to administer the oath to newly-elected panchs and sarpanchs here.
He said panches and sarpanches should join hands with the state government for effectively monitoring the ongoing development works in rural areas.
