Punjab Government has framed a policy to bring the state on the international tourist map by promoting eco, adventure, wild life and pilgrimage tourism.

Tourism Minster Sohan Singh Thandal said Punjab has to tap increasing demand for eco, adventure, wild life and pilgrimage tourism and the state government has cleared a "comprehensive project" for this purpose.

He said Punjab has rich cultural, historical, religious and ecological heritage and foreign tourists were attracted towards the state.

"In Punjab there are many such places, which have yet not been tapped and can be promoted as potential tourist spots," he said.

Thandal said the state government will also encourage tourist packages involving visiting and staying in remote areas, forests and riversides.
