A clutch of 47 state government services and facilities in Punjab will be made available online by October this year as part of an e-District project, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.

A budget of Rs 53.34 crore has been sanctioned for the project with Badal today expressing satisfaction over the e-district pilot schemes in SBS Nagar and Kapurthala districts.

During a meeting to review the working of the governance reforms department, Badal said that as per data from the National Programme Management Unit of the Centre's e-District project, Punjab had the highest number of services which have gone online in the pilot phase.

Badal said that IT major Wipro had been selected as the state project management unit (SPMU) for the implementation of the project under which a total of 47 services would go online by October 30 in all the districts.

The project would facilitate everything from online registration of complaints to filing of applications and will also allow citizens to check the status of these online on a day-to-day basis, he said.
