Punjab government today started a district-wise programme to distribute certified wheat seeds to farmers at subsidised rates.
A total of 5.75 lakh quintal certified wheat seeds will be supplied in the state under the National Food Security Mission and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna projects, an official spokesperson said here today.
He said the subsidy amount shall be transferred to farmers' bank accounts.
He added that the government is offering subsidy that is equal to 50 per cent of the total cost of seeds or a maximum of Rs 1,000 per quintal.
