The Punjab government will organise camps to train youths on dairy farming, fisheries and piggery in a bid to open up avenues for self-employment, state Animal Husbandry Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike said today.
Animal husbandry contributes nearly 13 per cent of the state's GDP and there is scope for expansion, the minister said, urging youths to adopt subsidiary occupations for self-employment.
Addressing a meeting of the State Advisory Committee of the Animal Husbandry Department here, Ranike said the training camps would be organised mostly in the rural areas.
