Truck operators will hold a rally on Wednesday to put pressure on the Punjab government to rollback its move of disbanding 134 unions in the state.
More than 90,000 operators will participate in the proposed rally at Nakodar, the All Punjab Truck Operators' Union chief Happy Sandhu said.
"The state government, which often talked of giving employment to the youth, has rendered small truck operators jobless by disbanding unions. This move will not only hit us, but also those who run tempos and other small commercial vehicles," he said

Operators have been protesting against the recent decision of the Punjab Cabinet to end the cartelisation of the goods transport sector.
The Punjab government had this month approved the Punjab Goods Carriages (Regulation and Prevention of Cartelization Rules), 2017, which bars the forming cartels or unions.
The truckers claimed that because of the abolition of unions, small operators would suffer the most as big companies would take over the business.
Sandhu said the All Punjab Truck Operators' Union has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the government's move.
