Punjabi playwright dead

Noted Punjabi playwright Dr Charandass Sidhu died today at the age of 75 after protracted illness, family members said.

Sidhu, who had made immense contributions to the Punjabi theatre, breathed his last in Delhi.

He wrote 37 Punjabi plays and was conferred the Sahitya Akademi and other awards.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had condoled Sidhu's death.
