A District Manager of Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (Punsup), a state government owned company, was today caught by sleuths of vigilance bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
Complainant Punsup Inspector Harpreet Sharma has alleged that the DM Yashpal Sharma, posted at Muktsar district, was demanding commission of Rs 60,000 from him for the purchase of empty jute bags, a vigilance bureau spokesman said here.
"A trap was subsequently laid and the DM was arrested red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000," the spokesman sad.
After the recovery of bribe money, a case under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act as registered against the accused at Vigilance Police Station, Mohali.
