Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri today discussed the ongoing sealing drive here with Delhi MPs, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and DDA vice chairman Udai Pratap Singh.

The MPs present in the meeting were Harsh Vardhan, Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri, Maheish Girri, Parvesh Verma and Udit Raj.

"The meeting discussed the solutions to the ongoing sealing campaign against commercial establishments in Delhi by the Monitoring Committee constituted by the Supreme Court," Delhi BJP said in a statement.

During the meeting, Tiwari urged Puri to allow immediate relief to the traders by accepting their demand related to conversion charge applicable on local shopping centre colonies, it said.

"Puri expressed in-principle acceptance of the demand and said that he will ask the officials to make necessary amendments in the Conversion Charge Policy earlier notified by the Centre," it added.

The traders have been protesting against the sealing of commercial establishments running from residential areas or premises.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had also proposed to amend the master plan by providing uniform Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for shop-cum-residence plots or complexes on par with residential plots, as given to properties on mixed-use street.

The FAR is the ratio of a building's total floor area (gross floor area) to the size of the piece of land on which it is built.

The Supreme Court had earlier observed that the rule of law over sanction to construct buildings had "completely broken down" in Delhi and expressed concern over illegal construction.
