Off-spinner Swarupam Purkayastha returned a five-wicket haul as Assam enforced a Follow-on on Hyderabad by bowling out the hosts for 215 in their first innings in a Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match, here today.
Hyderabad resumed their innings at 35 for no loss and despite a steady start in which the openers -- Tanmay Agarwal (68) and Akshat Reddy (41) --- put on 81 runs they lost wickets in a heap to suffer the ignominy of the Following on.
Purkayastha removed both the openers and then along with left-arm spinner Jamaluddin Syed Mohammad (3/73), he polished off the middle order too.
The hosts were struggling in their second innings too as they have lost opener Agarwal with the scorecard reading 21 for 1 in 5.3 overs.
