India is pursuing the case of 64 Indian fishermen arrested by Lankan authorities through all possible diplomatic means, Ministry of External Affairs said today.
There are 64 Indian fishermen in Lankan custody and India is pursuing with the government there, the Spokesperson in MEA told reporters here.
He was responding to a query on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his personal intervention in securing the release of all fishermen jailed in the island nation.

The Spokesperson said the Indian Mission has had consular access and also helped those who required medical assistance.
Terming it as a humanitarian issue, he said they were pressing the matter through all diplomatic means as these were just fishermen.
