RSS ideologue KN Govindacharya today suggested that photo of candidates contesting elections should be placed on Electronic Voting Machines(EVMs).

"The move would be helpful in determining that whether the voters can or cannot connect with the face of the candidate," he said.

The former BJP general secretary was interacting with audience at the concluding session of 'Indian Youth Parliament' here.

He said that this should be done for certain period and after that, no photo or symbol of party should be present on the EVM.

It is because voters today choose a party's candidate instead of their representative, he said, while insisting that competition to get party symbol will have to be stopped for the strengthening of democracy.

Govindacharya also suggested that activists, who are engaged in missions like Ganga cleaning, should focus on their mission instead of indulging in politics.
