Multiplex chain operator PVR has partnered with South Korea's CJ 4DPLEX to add another 10 4DX screens to its network in major cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai.

The company today signed an agreement with CJ 4DPLEX to add ten more 4DX screens at 'CineAsia 2016' in Hong Kong, PVR said in a statement.

PVR had launched its first 4DX site theatre in New Delhi in March 2016 in partnership with CJ 4DPLEX.

"Through this roll-out agreement, PVR cinemas will retain its position as the largest provider of 4DX in India with 11 theatres. The new roll-out includes installation of 4DX in PVR Cinemas' highest grossing theatres in prime PVR locations in Bangalore and Mumbai," the statement said.

The 4DX features include motion, wind, lightning, vibration, fog, rain, snow, rainstorm and scents. It also offers a complete visual, aural, olfactory and tactile experience to cinema viewing.

PVR Chairman & Managing Director Ajay Bijli said: "4DX offers an experience that is not only impossible to replicate at home, but also enhances the overall viewing experience. With more global exposure, the expectations of audiences are increasing as they look for added experiences that supplement on-screen viewing."

CJ 4DPLEX CEO Byung-Hwan Choi said: "From the success we have seen at the first 4DX theatre in New Delhi and the overwhelmingly positive response received from audiences, we look forward to offering this unusual and intense film experience to more Indian moviegoers."

At present, PVR operates 557 screens at 121 properties in 48 cities across the country.

CJ 4DPLEX is the world's first 4D cinema company and has created 4DX technology. As on December 2016, 4DX was in operation at more than 314 auditoriums in 42 countries.
