Pvt firm employees climb water tanks, demand to meet CM

Over a hundred employees of a private firm here today climbed up on water supply tank in Borkehaeda area of the city demanding the presence of Chief Minister at the spot to resolve their issues, police said.

The administration is at the spot to convince the protesters to come down.

Over 100 of employees of Samtel Color Ltd and Samtel Glass Ltd climbed up on the water supply tanks at 4:00 PM today demanding payment of their salaries and provident fund which they claimed had not been paid since October 2011, SHO Borkedha police station Shriram Barseda said.

The employees have been on strike since November last year when the firm was shut down.
 

They are also demanding the arrest of the owner and officials of the firm.

District Collector Rakesh Jaiswal and Inspector General (IG) Amrit Kalesh are also reported to be on the spot and efforts are on to convince the protesting employees to come down from the water tank.

Manoj Gupta, an employee of store office at the firm said, "We have not been paid our dues since October 2011".

K L Sharma, a former employee, said the company was going into loss and was not able to pay the dues.

Officials of Samtel Color Ltd and Samtel Glass Ltd could not be contacted for comments.

The firm manufactured picture tubes and panels and had employed over 1,800 persons but was shut down in November last year.
