PWD deploys more pump sets, manpower to end waterlogging

To end waterlogging on Delhi roads, the Public Works Department (PWD) has deployed additional manpower and installed more pumps in vulnerable areas.

There are 157 locations on Delhi roads which are vulnerable to waterlogging.

"PWD has installed permanent electric pumps at 95 locations and also arranged for generator sets as stand-by arrangements to meet any eventuality. PWD has also installed temporary pumps at 105 locations to ensure there was no waterlogging during the monsoon," a statement from the civic agency said.

PWD has completed short-term as well as long-term measures in 137 locations to ensure they are free from water- logging.
 

It has also deployed 72 maintenance vans equipped with pumps sets and manpower at various places.

Senior PWD officials and engineers have been asked to independently go on rounds for maintenance of all these roads, it said.
