Lokayukta police today apprehended an executive engineer with Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor.
Brajendra Kumar Mathur, posted in the building and road section of PWD, was arrested while allegedly taking the money from the complainant Brajesh Soni near the government residency rest house, Deputy Superintendent of Police D S Gurjar said.
Mathur had demanded the bribe to give a completion certificate and clear balance amount of Rs 1.70 lakh due to Soni's company which had constructed a road from Tarana to Vyaskhedi, the DSP said.
On Soni's complaint, a trap was laid and Mathur was apprehended. Police have registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act.
