PWD's assistant engineer arrested while accepting bribe in Rajasthan

An assistant engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) was arrested today while accepting a bribe from a contractor in Rajasthan's Jalore district, an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official said.

The assistant engineer, Hemaram Bishnoi, posted at Public Works Department (PWD) in Jalore's Raniwara had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from a contractor to pass his bills for a road construction job, ACB Deputy Superintendent Jitendra Singh said.

Bishnoi had already been paid Rs 50,000 as the first installment of the bribe, he added.

Singh said Bishnoi has been booked under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
