The snake, belonging to the rock python species, was found hanging from a tree at Bogribari area in Dhupguri block by a villager, Basanta Roy, sources said.
The villager tried to bring the snake down from the tree but failed to do so whreupon Roy contacted the forest department, sources said.
Forest Ranger of Binnaguri Wildlife division Subhas Chandra Ghosh with forest officials managed to trap the reptile in a box and took it to a veteran snake expert, Mintu Chowdhury who confirmed that the snake had no injury, sources said.
The Ranger later released the snake in the Khuttibari jungle in the district.
