Princess Eugenie, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and ninth in line to the British throne, will invite 1,200 members of the public to her wedding in October.

As in the case of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in May, the next royal wedding will also take place at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle with Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank taking a similar carriage ride along the High Street of the town.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would like to invite members of the public to join their wedding on October 12, 2018, to attend inside the Precincts of Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The 1,200 members of the public, who will able to apply to attend via an online ballot on publicevents.royal.uk/ballot, will be able to view the arrival of the congregation and members of the royal family, watch a live broadcast of the marriage service and witness the start of the procession as the couple depart at the end of the wedding ceremony, the palace said.

Representatives from some of the charities that the couple support will also be outside the church, along with local schoolchildren, residents of Windsor, and staff from the royal household.

Princess Eugenie, who works in the arts as a director at gallery Hauser and Wirth in London, is the second daughter of the Queen's younger son Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York.

Brooksbank, a former manager of London's posh club Mahiki in Mayfair, met the royal on a skiing trip. The couple had announced their engagement in January, when they were said to be "over the moon".

Eugenie will keep royal title of Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York after marriage and will have the option to take her husband's surname.

The wedding in October will be at a much lower scale than that of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which was watched on television by more than 13 million people as well as by the thousands of royal fans who lined the streets of Windsor.
