As the House assembled, the Question Hour was called but Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse (BJP) got up and said that the government had not responded to their demand for a probe by Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the alleged irregularities in the state Irrigation Department.

Khadse was joined by Subhash Desai (Sena), Davendra Phadanvis (BJP), Girish Bapat (BJP) and Bala Nandgaonkar (MNS) and others in voicing the demand.

Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse Patil urged the Opposition members to allow the Question Hour to function as per the agenda of the business of the day, but they were not ready to listen and started shouting slogans reiterating demand for a SIT probe.

The treasury benches tried to counter their protests and demanded that Question Hour be taken up.

Bala Nandgaonkar of MNS said that due to ruckus in the House, important issues of Vidarbha like the prices to cotton, paddy and soya could not be taken up during the last three days.

Sensing the mood of the Opposition members, the Speaker adjourned the House for an hour and therefore the stipulated time for the Question Hour was lost.
