Amid speculation of senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh being projected as a chief ministerial candidate of the party in Uttar Pradesh polls slated next year, the Rajasthan Governor termed the question as "hypothetical."

Scores of enthusiastic workers swarmed the house of the former state chief minister at his residence on his 84th birthday and called for giving the reins of UP BJP to Singh.

BJP MP from Unnao Sakshi Mahraj said Kalyan was an OBC face of the party and there was no haste if any responsibility was given to him. He said that people have seen his work as a chief minister.

Singh, when asked to respond to the speculation, said, "This question is hypothetical."

The former UP chief minister, however, exuded confidence that BJP would form the next government in the state after the 2017 Assembly elections and said people have seen both the SP and BSP governments.

Singh said that people want a change and BJP was standing as an alternative.
