Defence Secretary R K Mathur was today given additional charge of Department of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D).
Mathur, a 1977-batch IAS officer of Manipur Tripura cadre, will hold the additional charge for a period of three months from tomorrow or until further orders, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.
He will take over the additional charge from incumbent Avinash Chander. Chander's contract as Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development-cum-DG Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and scientific adviser to Defence Minister was terminated by the government earlier this month with effect from January 31, 2015.
