Veteran journalist and editor of Dainik Asam Radhika Mohan Bhagawati has been awarded the R N Borooah and Protiva Borooah Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of journalism in Assam.
The awards instituted in memory of R N Borooah, former Editor of The Assam Tribune and his wife Protiva Borooah, consist of Rs 50,000 in cash and a citation, said a press release by Prasanta J Baruah, convener of the Awards Committee today.
Stating that two other awards have also been announced, Baruah said the R N Borooah Memorial Award for best reporting on environment, tourism, conservation of nature for 2014-2015 has been awarded to Bikash Sarma, Correspondent of Asomiya Pratidin from Golaghat district.

The Protiva Borooah Memorial Award for best reporting on uplift of poor and needy for 2014-2015 has been given to Gagan Kumar Nath, correspondent of Asomiya Khabor from Sipajhar in Darrang district, he said.
The awards have been scheduled to be presented here on December 8 with former Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury and noted environmentalist Soumyadeep Datta attending as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, the release added.
