The DPF organised an election rally here where its leaders asked the people to vote against ruling BJP in coming Assembly polls.
Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM), an NGO which is also part of DPF, said their main aim is to revive Communist movement in the state where BJP is in power since mid-1990s.
"We have come together not just to fight polls but to debate various issues which concern the common man, the poor and marginalised sections of the society," said JSM Convener Mukul Sinha at the rally.
"Economic policies propagated by BJP and Congress are more or less the same and they have only contributed to exploitation of the poor", said Sinha, who is also a human rights activist.
DPF leader Ambarish Patel claimed workers are being exploited in the state. "The wages of the working class in Gujarat have fallen in the last ten years as compared to a rise in production to which they are contributors."
"This shows the exploitation has gone up. And that is why foreign companies want to do business in Gujarat because they can exploit workers easily by paying less wages," he said.
The assembly election is not being fought on any key issue. Ruling BJP and main opposition Congress are just debating who is more corrupt, the JSM Convener said.
DPF will contest a limited number of assembly seats and seek votes on issues concerning the people, he said.
Taking a dig at the present electoral system, he said one of the reasons why corrupt people are getting elected is because money power plays a major role in the current set-up.
The rally was attended by CPI-ML (Marxist-Leninist), New Socialist Movement (NSM) and Marxist Leninist Committee (Andhra Pradesh), among other parties with Left-leaning ideology.
