A city-based private hospital will soon introduce a radio frequency based treatment for patients suffering from hypertension.
"There are many patients who despite taking medication find no improvement in their hypertensive state. Such patients are susceptible to stroke. For them Metro Hospital is going to start a treatment technique based on radio frequency," chief cardiologist and Metro Group Of Hospitals chairman Purshotam Lal said at a seminar held today at hospital premises on eve of World Health Day.
Lal is also a member of governing board of Medical Council of India (MCI).

Hypertension is a major public health problem worldwide and is one of the risk factors for coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease.
According to a 2012 WHO report, 23 per cent men and 22 per cent women above 25 years are suffering from hypertension in India.
It is a major risk factor for cardio-vascular diseases that killed 2.7 million people in 2004 and will result in the death of over four million people by 2030.
