Hundreds of radiologists in Maharashtra are on strike since yesterday to protest 'harassment' by the government officials during the crack-down on the sex determination test.

Dr Jignesh Thakkar, National PCPNDT co-ordinator, said here today that officials seal or seize the sonography machines for frivolous reasons.

Health department wants the radiologists to fill the necessary forms online as well as physcially, which is not needed, he said.

Stringent action is taken for simple clerical lapses, he said.

Maharashtra branch of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association had taken up the issue with the Health Minister but there was no response, he said.

Under the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagonostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act there is no provision for sealing or seizure of the machines, according to the radiologists.
